My Favorite Keto Cookbooks
I have an insatiable appetite (see what I did there) for Keto cookbooks. My problem is not only with collecting them but also with relinquishing them. So I try really hard not to acquire new ones willy nilly.
Reviews
Reading reviews is a helpful way to select Keto cookbooks. When you read reviews, which is a great practice by the way, you get all sorts of opinions.
Great food is solely decided by your own taste. What someone else says is delicious may really be awful to your taste buds. So the next step is research. Find out if the cookbook author has a website with recipes to try out. Or, if you are me, head straight to the library. Yes indeed…I am a big ole nerd!
The Library
If the library has the cookbook, I check it out so I can check it out. Hee see.
Recently, cookbooks have thankfully moved to having a photo for every recipe. Talk about eating with your eyes. Even better are the recipe indexing with photos. What will they think of next?
Cooking a recipe or two is next. Love them? If the answer is a resounding yes then you know what to do. I am guessing you also know what to do if they turn out to be stinkers.
The food you eat should be delicious so do your homework before investing in cookbooks.
In addition to being a library nerd, I am also a paper lover. Old school all the way! There are thousands of free recipes on the web. I personally love to have and hold a real book. It is also nice to reward these hardworking bloggers monetarily by either buying their books or using their affliate links. Just something to keep in mind!
Keto Cookbooks I Love

Amazon reviews can only get you so far in the way of choosing a cookbook. Sometimes people leave a 5 star review and haven’t cooked a single thing from it. I am not sure how helpful those reviews are supposed to be. Knowing that the recipes are tasty and provide consistent results is what I want to know.
I can’t stand trying out a recipe and having it be a total flop. Ingredients are too costly to waste on bad outcomes. Recipes should be easy enough that the at home cook can easily replicate them.
Do I love every recipe? Of course not!
Even within the cookbooks that I love there will always be recipes with ingredients or just something about it that doesn’t resonate. Not all recipes are a winner even in a “winning” cookbook. Remember the days of a buying an album and only liking 2 or 3 songs?
Below I’ve highlighted a couple of my favorite low carb bloggers/cookbook authors. These are the cookbooks that I have used over and over again. I hope that you find a favorite too!
Carolyn Ketchum
If you haven’t checked out Carolyn’s blog All Day I Dream About Food, you are really missing out. She loves food, wine and chocolate. How can you not love her?!
Easy Keto Dinners
Great to grab when you need something fast and easy. I have made about half of the more than 60 recipes. The cauliflower rice pilaf with basil and pine nuts is in heavy rotation at our house. This cookbook includes no desserts.
The Ultimate Guide to Keto Baking
This cookbook is exactly what it says. There are more than 150 recipes so this thing is a hefty work of art. I have only scratched the surface of this one but I have made the dairy free chocolate chip skillet cookie at least 5 times! And the pecan snowball cookies are some of the best keto cookies. You definitely need to be committed to the keto lifestyle though since the recipes require quite a few specialty products such as xanthan gum, whey protein isolate, almond flour, coconut flour and erythritol based sweeteners.
Everyday Ketogenic Kitchen
Another huge cookbook with over 150 recipes. This was one of the first Keto cookbooks I purchased and I still love it. I have made a little over a quarter of the recipes. We have so many favorites like the goat cheese soufflés, New Mexico smothered pork chops and the butter pecan cookies. The same specialty products mentioned above will be required for the desserts.
Mellissa Sevigny
Mellissa’s blog I Breathe I’m Hungry is another great one. She used to live in Belize so her food has a different slant to it that I love.
Squeaky Clean Keto
This cookbook is very different from the others since it is dairy, nut and sweetener free. Mellissa has 4 weeks of menu plans for what she calls the Squeaky Clean Challenge on her website. This is an extension of that concept with some old and new recipes included. There are also 4 weeks of menu plans in the book. I love the chicken Korma, Peruvian chicken and spinach wraps. Try out her sun-dried tomato & basil wraps from her website.
Kendra Holley
Fun fact…I meet Kendra at Half Price Books on her book tour. Her website is Peace Love and Low Carb. You can find keto, paleo and dairy free recipes.
Craveable Keto
This is another large cookbook with over 140 recipes. There are a number of fabulous recipes including our all time favorites Keto Lasagna Soup, pork egg roll in a bowl, warm taco slaw, seared scallops and Thousand Island dressing just to name a few!
